History 101

My history class was like any other class, well to me at least. It had its ups and downs but either way it was fun. I felt like i was trapped in my AP World history class again but only this class was American history, and a lot longer. But the worst part of it was that it was lecture, pure lecture. I really was in AP again. But unlike the homework, i actually did the homework here. We did get homework but it wasn't a lot. Sometimes the reading was long and hard to understand but sometimes we got short simple articles so it evened out. When our first test came i didn't know what to expect so i just did it. I came out with like a D or a C but either way i was happy. Then the second test came n i did about the same but I'm still OK with it.
Since i took world history before, i knew a lot about what he was talking about so the class was easy for me, except for the test i hate test. I did learn stuff i didn't know but i still found it boring. Don't get me wrong the class was fun. Sometimes when he was trying to teach us something he showed us a video. Sometimes those videos were Simpson video, and that was really cool. Yea i won't lie, i fell asleep like 3 or 4 times but that was when i knew what he was talking about. And when i had a laptop i would sometimes stray from my notes on the computer to the Internet but who wouldn't? This was a great experience, it really was, is! Summer Scholars has taught me so much about college and how different it is from high school. And the teachers, they were great too. Griggs (my history teacher) was a little boring and would sometimes tell jokes that weren't funny but people still laughed. Sometime i did laugh but that was because i really that it was funny. But overall, everything was great. The environment, the students, the teachers, the program itself. I love summer scholars.

Talent+

My career shadow experience was cool. We went to Lincoln, Nebraska to Talent+ an international business and a long way from here. So after we got found out where it was we went into Talent Plus where we met Andres (Lina's brother) and he showed us around and let us meet some of the people there. We met two people, Chi Cher and Julius, that were both stationed in Singapore but here for training. They talked about what they did and their experience here in America. We also met a women, i forgot her name, who was from Italy working here. She told us about herself then we met Charlotte. She worked there as a psychologist, because that's how the business was founded... on psychology, that's why i was there. I was interested on psychology, while, Michael and Leann, were there for international business. So once we heard all of them talk we went to the cafeteria and then we took a tour where we met more people. One thing i noticed while we were there that they all loved what they did. Everyone was so friendly and happy. Even by the time we left (around 5:45) people were still there and it didn't looked like they minded. That's how i would like to work. Have a job I actually want to work at. We were even offered internships if we were to come to UNO so that's a positive. The whole experience was positive. I had a lot of fun and learned how psychology works in a business and a lot about international business just something else to add to the list of possibilities =)
